September 4, 2013 marks one year since community representative Yorm Bopha was incarcerated as a result of her land rights activism. Despite a wholesale lack of credible evidence, Bopha was convicted of committing intentional violence with aggravating circumstances in late December 2012, and given a three-year sentence.

We, the undersigned trade unions and labor support organizations, would like to express our extreme dissatisfaction with the National Election Committee's lack of will to permit an independent investigation into widespread election irregularities. August 7th, 2013 - We, the undersigned civil society groups, urge Metfone, an Internet service provider (ISP) registered and operating in Cambodia, to issue a full explanation of today's temporary blocking of Facebook, as well as the ongoing unavailability of the Ki-Media website.

JULY 17, 2013 - Yesterday the board of Bonsucro, a responsible sugar initiative, announced its decision to suspend Tate & Lyle Sugars (TLS) over complaints that the UK sugar giant profits from land-grabbing by buying sugar from a plantation in Koh Kong, Cambodia, that was illegally taken from local villagers. Coming on the heels of complaints to the U.S. Government and the European Commission, as well as a lawsuit in the UK, this development increases the pressure on TLS to provide justice to the affected communities.

May 1, 2013 ? On this International Labor Day, we, the undersigned civil society groups call upon all international garment brands sourcing from Cambodia to publicly denounce two recent baseless judicial decisions related to the garment sector. The first is the recent imprisonment of Born Samnang and Sok Sam Oeun. The two men were scapegoated and wrongly convicted in the 2004 murder of labor leader Chea Vichea. The second is the government's failure to appropriately prosecute Chhouk Bandith, a well - connected former town governor who shot and severely injured three female garment factory workers.
